Easy magazine cover in Photoshop
It’s so easy to create a magazine cover with Adobe Photoshop that anyone can understand the process from the screenshots alone, without any explanations. Allthou it’s quite simple and straight forward, you will need to already know few things such as isolating an image from the background.
You should read the tutorial on isolating an image first, if you have no clue how to do it. After that, you will know everything you need to know in order to create a magazine cover.
Now let’s try to create a cover for a photography related magazine…
First of all create a new document and fill the background with a gradient, like this one:

On top of this bring an isolated image, such as the lady from my example here and add a drop shadow like this:

Below this layer, insert a new image with something related to the magazine topic (or anything you may think it’s interesting) and make sure the edges fade out into the background:

Between these 2 layers add some text to fit your cover and that’s all there is.

All your layers should look like this:

You don’t create a magazine with Photoshop.. You have to do that with InDesign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You will not get high quality print with covers or pages made in photoshop. Study more DTP/Print.
Photoshop is used only for images.
This tutorial could have been usefull for the picture on the cover, modified and exported in CMYK as a .tiff.
The rest of the page was a QuarkXpress/Corel/Adobe InDesign tutorial, with the .tiff imported.
